What better way to traverse across the entire U.S.?
When I drive it I will don one of those captain's hats you often see octogenarians wear.

Make sure you don't get some rum in the tank, cap.

That's not an Eldo. That's a deVille convertible.

Yes, I know. I don't have too many Cadillac pictures that I've taken.

I had a '79 coupe deville with the 425. Honestly, the best car I've ever owned. Thermostat-style climate control. power antennas. power windows. power locks. power seats. power mirrors (kinda). digital auto-tuning am/fm radio. power steering so strong you could steer with just one finger.
it made no practical sense to own. insurance was crazy (i was 25 y/o at the time), gas was expensive (12mpg at best) but it was classy, comfortable and bomb-proof.
Also, and I'm not joking, everywhere I went, people asked me how much I would sell it to them on the spot. And this was a high-mileage beater.
Do yourself a favor and make this dream a reality. you will never regret it. I wasted so much money (which I should've been investing in my retirement) and regret nothing.
